Sunday, May 6, was a fun day at MAI! MAI’s first-ever Outdoor Market welcomed 60+ premier vendors to the parking lot outside our store in The Houston Design Center.
So much to see, shop, enjoy! From antiques and designer excesses to jewelry, clothing and treats, great items were snapped up.
Some 600+ customers enjoyed the wonderful spring sunshine, four tasty food trucks, friendly face painters and more.
When customers were not trying on designer fashion, they were visiting the pet adoption tents of Almost Home Pet Rescue. MAI opened its doors, too, so customers could come in, cool off… and shop some more. What a fun day!

For design inspiration, what better place to start than seeking the advice of designers? And what better place to find your inspiring pieces than MAI?
In the words of designer Jonathan Adler, “Life should be chic, glamorous, and colorful – and so should your home.” Your walls at home will shine with the addition of a new colorful piece of art or a new mirror. Pieces above are on our aisles now.
Texas designer Jan Showers tells us,”Every room needs a touch of black just as it needs at least one antique piece.” At MAI, you can find touches of black and wonderful antique pieces like this Gustavian secretary in suite 166.
“Decorating is really about creating a quality of life, a beauty that nourishes the soul.” Albert Hadley, we couldn’t agree more!
Find your soul’s inspiration at MAI, open to public and trade every Monday – Saturday.
MAI’s Designing Windows Series welcomes spring this month, thanks to the colorfully creative work of local designer Patti Perrier, ASID.
Each month, customers enter MAI’s doors freshly inspired by the Designing Windows Series, which features local top designers’ finds and creativity. We’re loving the color and bright, fresh feeling that Perrier has brought to the windows at suite 164. Her mixing of antiques with modern touches – and of course color – says now, don’t you think?
Patti Perrier’s residential and commercial design firm, founded in 1992, is known for fresh perspective and creative composition. Her work has been seen locally, nationally and internationally. Regardless of a project’s size or locale, Perrier works closely with her clients, from the first days of design to completion.
For more information about the range of Perrier Design, visit the designer’s website at http://www.pattiperrierdesign.com.
And be sure to come see MAI’s windows soon!
March has just blown in, and spring is right around the corner… If this means it’s time for some new looks at home, MAI has endless options!
From antique French day beds to newly upholstered mid-century modern chairs, MAI has a wide range of seating options in store.
Above, a Swedish bench mixes beautifully with a glass topped coffee table. Another table, the dining table above, features two ends that can be used separately as demilunes. Talk about versatility!
Sometimes a new statement piece of art, such as the large original abstract or the Asian panels above, can be just what you need to freshen up a space. These colors just say spring!
Pops of green say spring, too. For color, neutrals, style mixes and more, visit MAI for inspiration.
What are you waiting for?

We’re pretty in pink these days at MAI, and customers are loving it!
From the front windows on inside, pops of pink can help you get ready for Valentine’s Day this week. As part of MAI’s continuing series, Designing Windows, the front windows have been staged by local designer Donna Lewis of Les Petites Lapins.
It’s just the right time to find fun gifts for the Valentines on your list, at all price points. Prices for the items above range from $24 to $50. For the truly special on your list…
The large original art above, in a vintage French frame, is priced at $2,300. For $995 this tall iron candelabra will make a statement, while the pillows can brighten any space for $195 each.
While not-quite-pink, we can’t resist these coral beauties! The vintage Dorothy Draper lacquered chests are tagged $3,400 for the pair.
You can find inspiring gifts and beautiful furnishings at MAI. MAI always welcomes public and trade, Monday – Saturday. What’s not to love about that?

MAI is all decked out this week! The Houston Design Center’s 10th annual Deck the Tables competition is in full swing, and five MAI vendors are participating. Participants in this event compete for several awards, and judges include notables from several esteemed magazines, including Luxe and Houston Design Resources. You are invited to vote for a very special award, too.
MAI’s fab tables below need YOUR vote for the “People’s Choice” award, to be announced tomorrow. Please click here to visit the design center’s page and vote – for one of MAI’s tables, of course!
Above, two of MAI’s award-worthy tables are “Tied Up Tartan” by Dana Boyd (in suite 166) and “White Christmas” by Katie Galliano (suite 164).
You’ll also love “Dinner at Versailles” by Bert Melnick and Gretchen Gardener and Jack Watson’s “All about the Beasts.” Both tables can be found in suite 166.
Not to be outdone in this year’s competition is Oscar Zuniga’s creation, “Four Calling Birds.” This table is located just a short elevator ride upstairs, in suite 260.
These images do not do justice to the wondrous beauty of MAI’s tables. The details just beg to be seen up close, so come view their holiday splendor at MAI.
