To quote a popular designer here in Houston, “Nowhere else can you walk into one large store and find fine antiques side-by-side with great contemporary furnishings.” We think you’ll agree!
This picture says it all: an antique French settee is updated with a zebra pillow and flanked by mid-century arm chairs that pop. And what about that artwork, much less the gilded and marble-topped table?
We’re loving this rustic sideboard (great storage!) topped with a pair of Louis Philippe mirrors and custom lamps made from architectural fragments and fresh rectangular shades. The antique cherub newly framed in acrylic says, “I’m special.”
Color, clean lines, lucite, drum shades and more beautifully update pieces that are already fabulous. Timeless!
Looking for that special piece, or wondering how to arrange what you have in a new way? MAI’s 17,000 square feet of beautiful vignettes will inspire you. Come see us today!
Transitioning into the cooler months is beautifully achieved in Building 2’s September windows, thanks to the inspiration of Cindy Witmer Designs. Since 1998 this Houston design firm has enjoyed working with clients, builders and architects in Texas, Colorado and throughout the country. Steeped in classic sensibilities, their design is for those who appreciate fine antiques, fine art, architecture, reclaimed and authentic materials and cool, peaceful environs incorporated into a busy, modern lifestyle.
Warm and inviting interiors – with a glamorous twist where you least expect it – plus a desire to connect with the South of France, Italy and Florence drive Cindy Witmer Designs’ aesthetic. They are big believers in well loved, well lived interiors that are timeless and wear well with the years.
A graduate of the University of Texas, Cindy Witmer (pictured right, in the photo) is the creative and passionate force behind Cindy Witmer Designs. Cindy listens carefully to each client’s needs and collaborates closely with her team. Associate Designer Laura Benes (pictured left) is also a graduate of the University of Texas and has been with the firm for eight years.

Looking for a specific style of interiors and decor? If you are seeking something special, something new for your space… here are some of the looks at MAI right now.
French, fabulous, gilded with a little rustic or abstract mixed in… if you’re into mixing styles, or staying true to purely European decor, MAI has it!
Updated industrial decor and mid-century modern looks can be found in our buildings, too.
Above, these vignettes give you an example of the color – or the neutral tones – ready to inspire you at the store.
Whatever style of interiors is your favorite, walk the aisles of MAI for some up-to-date inspiration. Hope to see you soon!
Midsummer heat forces Texans inside more often, and that can bring about longings to refresh our spaces. What’s better than a few new pops of color to freshen up our homes?
From the traditional blue and white decor, above, to bright greens and pinks, a piece or two in a new color can make a big change in a room.
Speaking of pink, the mid-century tufted velvet chairs above make a beautiful statement. This original art, more subtly colored, does as well.
Custom pillows or succulent wreaths in new colors can brighten up a space as well.
All of the inventory seen above can be found today at MAI Houston. MAI has just what you’ll love for refreshing your home – midsummer or any time!
Thanks to designer Lauren Haskett for mentioning MAI recently! Lauren listed MAI as a resource in Houston House & Home magazine’s colorful and fun June 2016 article.
