Wherever we look, we’re finding that neutrals are still — perhaps even more so — being used to update today’s homes. Magazines, blogs, websites, and stores are featuring neutrals, naturals, and “green.” Neutrals update our spaces and can give us a feeling of calm and serenity, so welcome in today’s world.
Bleached wood furniture is a highly sought look today, and it fits easily into a neutral decor. Pieces can be primitive or a bit more refined in their finishes and looks.

Industrial pieces blend easily into contemporary and more traditional spaces decorated with neutrals. Their metal and wood surfaces add texture and interest.

A few pops of color can quickly and easily spice up your neutral decor to add some fun or to reflect a seasonal theme.

A little mid-century can liven things up in some rooms
Memorial Antiques & Interiors changes inventory often, and neutrals are easy to find at MAI. Our store is always a call, a click, or a few miles away. We are ready to help you find just what you want in today’s looks.

From time to time, MAI’s dealers gain national attention in magazines we love to read, and Southern Living‘s April 2011 issue is an example of just that. Turn to the article ”Calm & Collected,” and you’ll notice a lovely trumeau painted by our own Pruitt-Littleton Decorative Artists. This is not the first time their work has been seen nationally. A sofa they painted was featured on the cover of the May 2010 issue of Veranda magazine.

Mid-century and still hot!
Mention the name Milo Baughman, Jr., and designers and decorators with leanings toward mid-century modern will nod in recognition. Beginning in the 1940s, Milo Baughman designed for a great number of companies such as Henredon, the Design Institute America, Thayer Coggin, George Kovacs, Drexel, and many other leaders in the furniture industry. In fact, until his passing in 2003, Baughman was one of the leading designers of modern American furniture. His creations were known for their progressive, clean designs and affordability.
Always one to extol the benefits of good design on our lives, Baughman’s creations are hot on today’s mid-century market… you only have to look on the internet for his influence, or — better yet — check out a fabulous Baughman desk available at Memorial Antiques & Interiors.
